What sets Bikram Yoga apart from other forms of "hot yoga?"

Bikram Yoga has been practiced by thousands of people since the 1960s. The benefits of Bikram Yoga have been seen the world over. It is a safe series of postures which is designed for beginners as well as advanced students of yoga. Bikram Yoga helps to regulate cholesterol in the blood, supply nutrients and oxygen to every part of the body, helps to flush the lymphatic system, to balance the endocrine, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, and thymus glands, improves spine flexibility and health, strengthens the immune system, expands lung capacity, strengthens the heart, lubricates joints and helps to strengthen bones.

Why the heat?

The room is heated to allow your muscles to warm up quicker. It also helps work deeper to stimulate all of your internal organs, thus helping to flush the many systems of the body, and keep it functioning properly to maintain optimum health.

Will I lose weight?

Yes, Bikram Yoga is a cardiovascular workout. It helps to stimulate your immune system, and your thyroid which controls metabolism in your body. By kick starting your system and keeping it healthy you will start to lose weight.

How much water should I drink before class?

By being well hydrated you will find the heat and the class much easier to do. A good rule of thumb is to try and drink 3 to 4 liters of water throughout the day so your body is well hydrated. Try and drink at least 1 liter of water before class and then drink water throughout the day.

What if I am not flexible?

It's okay if you're not flexible. Flexibility is something that comes with time and practice. The heat will help you to get into postures easier because it makes your body more pliable.
